Hogart, Hardy Grab NECBL Week 6 Player and Pitcher of the Week Selections
The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) announces the Week 6 Player & Pitcher of the Week honors including honorable mentions for the week concluding on Sunday, July 14th.
Valley Blue Sox outfielder Jonathan Hogart (Murray State) and Upper Valley Nighthawks pitcher Halton Hardy (Kennesaw State) have been named the NECBL’s Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 6 of the 2024 regular season.
In a west division that’s wide-open, Hogart has kept the Blue Sox afloat this season, particularly this week. The Blue Sox slugger hit five home runs and drove in 16 runs in a week where the Blue Sox went 4–2. Valley remains within a game of the Blues for first place in the west division thanks to Hogart’s week 6 heroics.
In 2024 with Murray State, Hogart slashed an impressive .304, hitting 14 home runs and driving in 52 runs in 57 games played. The Racers finished with a 37–20 record this season, a season where they set numerous records with Hogart at the center of it all. The Racers set single-season team records in runs (464), total hits (591), home runs (102) and second-most wins in a season at 37.
On the pitching side of the ball, Hardy came through big for the Nighthawks in one of their two wins in week 6. Hardy made the start on July 9th at Vermont and tossed five near-perfect innings, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out five and allowing no runs, against one of the best teams in the NECBL.
As a reliever with Kennesaw State in 2024, Hardy tossed 25.1 innings, posting a 3.20 ERA and a save. The Owls finished with a 32–24 record in 2024 with Hardy making 15 appearances, 13 out of the bullpen and 2 as a starter.
