Keene, Newport and Vermont Clinch Wins with Late-Game Runs
Newport Gulls vs North Shore Navigators
Lynn, MA – Newport’s Tyler Minnick (Middle Tennessee State) hit in Matthew Ossenfort (North Carolina State) for the winning run in the eighth inning to defeat North Shore 4-3. Both teams chipped away, with Newport striking first in the third inning when Tyler Hare (Wofford) hit an RBI single. The Gulls followed with a second RBI single from Nolan Stevens (Mississippi State) in the fifth.
The Navs immediately responded to even the board. Brendan Jones (Holy Cross) hit in a run and scored himself from a Kyle Jones (Florida) single. A North Shore error from the first basemen gave Newport a run in the sixth frame, but the Navs were able to recover in the seventh inning, scoring from a wild pitch. Minnick’s winning double secured Newport’s 19th win of the season.
Winning pitcher Adam Walker (Austin Peay State) threw for 1.2 innings and logged two strikeouts, one walk, no runs and no hits.
The Gulls' (19-11) next game is against the Navigators (11-17) at 3 pm on Monday. North Shore hosts Mystic (16-14) on Sunday at 5:05 pm.

Sanford Mainers vs Upper Valley Nighthawks
Hartford, VT – The Nighthawks defeated the Mainers 9-4 after logging two three-run innings on Saturday night. A Trey Christman (William & Mary) two-run home run in the fifth frame highlighted Upper Valley’s scoring.
The Nighthawks’ scoring began in the second inning with a Bryce Blaser (Louisiana Monroe) single. The teams went back and forth as Sanford responded with an RBI single of its own, and Upper Valley drove in a run from an error by the shortstop. Both teams scored in the fourth inning. The Mainers logged an RBI single and Upper Valley brought in three runs from a Michael Trommer (Bucknell) RBI double and an error by the right fielder. In the fifth inning, a sac fly and Christman’s homer solidified the Nighthawks’ lead. Sanford brought in two runs from two hits in the seventh inning but could not close the margin.
Winning pitcher Andrelys Payamps (Iona) threw for five innings and recorded five strikeouts, one walk, two runs and six hits.
Both teams play on Sunday. The Mainers (15-16) journey to Vermont for a 6:30 pm matchup against the Mountaineers (20-8). The Nighthawks (13-15) visit the Blue Sox (14-15) at 1:05 pm.

Keene SwampBats vs Danbury Westerners
Danbury, CT – A late-game triple by Brett House (Mississippi State) brought in two runs to give the SwampBats the lead against Danbury. In the eighth inning, House’s hit put Keene up 4-2, and during its last ups, Alex Calarco (Maryland) solidified the lead with an RBI single for a 5-2 victory.
Danbury started the scoring with a Matthew Bucciero (Fairfield) RBI single in the third inning. Keene responded by scoring off an error by the first baseman in the fourth frame and a sac fly in the fifth. The Westerners logged a sac fly of their own in the sixth frame but could not put anything else together to catch up to the SwampBats.
Winning pitcher Sean Finn (UConn) threw two innings and logged four strikeouts, no walks, no hits and no runs.
The SwampBats (19-10) visit Vermont (20-8) Monday at 6:30 pm and the Westerners (8-21) travel to North Adams for a 4 pm game against the SteepleCats on Sunday (12-18).

Ocean State Waves vs Bristol Blues
Bristol, CT – Bristol defeated Ocean State 7-5 after powering through a four-run fourth inning. The Blues, down 4-2, scored off Jason Shockley (Richmond) and Vincent Bianchina (Northwestern) RBI singles, a sac fly and an error by the catcher.
Ocean State brought in three runs in the first frame from a hit-by-pitch, walk and wild pitch. A Dean O’Neill (Maine Orono) double placed the Blues on the board. Ocean State drove in a run from an RBI single in the second inning and in the third Bristol scored off a wild pitch. The Blues followed up their four-run inning with an Anton Lazits (Columbia) RBI single. The Waves mustered up an RBI single of their own but were not able to close the gap.
Both teams host games on Monday. Ocean State (11-17) plays Martha’s Vineyard (15-13) at 7:05 pm and Bristol (16-14) faces off against North Adams (12-18) at 6:30 pm.

Vermont Mountaineers vs North Adams SteepleCats
North Adams, MA – The Mountaineers topped the SteepleCats 8-6 courtesy of a Tyler Ganus (Northwestern) RBI single pushing Vermont ahead in the eighth inning. The Mountaineers also logged a sac fly in the eighth to cement their lead.
Vermont started the night off strong scoring six runs during its first at-bat from an error, two hits, fielder’s choice and sac fly. The Mountaineers went scoreless until the eighth frame while the SteepleCats caught up. In the fourth inning, North Adams drove in four runs from three singles. The SteepleCats walked in a run in the fourth inning and Hayden Carlson (Indiana) hit in Max Palinski (Ohio State) in the fifth inning to level the board.
J Lapham (Southern New Hampshire) threw four innings for Vermont and logged six strikeouts, one walk, no hits and three runs. J Greeley (Monmouth) threw 4.1 innings for North Adams with four strikeouts, no walks, no hits and three runs.
Both teams host games on Sunday. Vermont (20-8) battles Sanford (15-16) at 6:30 pm and North Adams (12-18) challenges Danbury (8-21) at 4 pm.
