SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Danbury LHP George Viebrock III (Denison) and Martha’s Vineyard OF Nathan Hall (Clemson) have been named the New England Collegiate Baseball League’s Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the second week of the 2023 NECBL regular season.

 

Hall had a monster week for the Sharks, hitting .500 over the last seven days, and recording five hits in his ten at-bats, including two home runs, a triple, a double, four runs scored and two walks. Hall started the week with an RBI triple and a run scored in a 9-1 win over the Navigators, and was a bright spot in the other two games he played over the week, hitting a home run in each game. He finished out the week with a three-hit effort in a loss to Mystic. Hall’s Sharks sit at 3-5 on the season and are looking to get back in the playoff race to defend their Fay Vincent Sr. Cup title from last season. 

 

Hall had a great first season at Clemson in 2023, appearing in 39 games throughout the Tiger’s season, batting .243 on the year with a homer and twelve RBI, while also swiping three bags and drawing eight walks. 

 

Viebrock appeared in two games in relief this week, pitching three scoreless innings in both of his appearances, the first coming June 14th at Mystic. Against the Schooners, Viebrock was perfect across three innings, facing the minimum nine batters and striking out six of them. On June 18th at Valley, he allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out four more batters across another three scoreless innings.

 

During his junior season at Denison, Viebrock was named to the 2023 All-NCAC Third Team, 2023 NCAC Tournament MVP, and the NCAC All-Tournament Team. He appeared in 22 games for Denison, pitching to a 3.83 ERA while going 7-3 on the season. He led the NCAC in saves with six, was third in ERA, and fourth in wins. He pitched 49.1 innings, striking out 49 batters, and allowing 21 runs.
