NECBL Announces 2016 All-Star Game Broadcasters
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – After a vote by their fellow broadcasting peers and representative of each team’s front office, Sanford’s Tom Porter and Mystic’s Mike Miezejeski have been selected as the 2016 New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) All-Star Game play-by-play duo, as announced by the league Monday.
The two broadcasters will take their talents to historic Cardines Field this Sunday and team up to call all of the afternoon and evening’s festivities, including the Home Run Derby, 60-Yard Dash and, of course, the main event of the All-Star Game itself.
“I would like to personally thank Tom and Mike on being selected to broadcast Sunday’s All-Star Game,” Commissioner Sean McGrath said. “It is a testament to their preparation and professionalism in how they approach their work that they were selected by their peers to represent their divisions Sunday. We are indeed fortunate to have them and their voices representing the NECBL throughout the summer, especially at our showcase event.”
The NECBL, in conjunction with Pointstreak and GrandStadium, will offer free broadcast coverage of Sunday’s action on the NECBL Broadcast Network. Video and audio presentations will be available online and on mobile devices.
Meet The 2016 All-Star Game Broadcast Team
Tom Porter (Sanford)
Tom Porter is from Glocester, Rhode Island, and a 2016 graduate of the University of Rhode Island where he earned a B.A. in History and Journalism. At URI, Porter was the voice of the Rams’ baseball program for three years on 90.3 WRIU, and also contributed radio work for the Rams’ football, basketball, hockey and softball programs. In addition, Porter hosted WRIU's only sports talk show, the Sports Power Half-Hour, four days a week for two years.
The 2016 season marks Porter's third summer in the NECBL, as well as his second straight All-Star Game selection, and his first with the Sanford Mainers. Porter spent the last two seasons with the New Bedford Bay Sox, earning Southern Division All-Star broadcasting honors in 2015.
Beginning in the fall of 2017, Porter will return to school to begin working toward his Ph.D in American History.
Mike Miezejeski (Mystic)
An Ivoryton, Connecticut, native, Mike Miezejeski is a rising senior at Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire, and will be making his first broadcasting appearance in an NECBL All-Star Game.
Miezejeski is a Journalism major at Keene State, where he also broadcasts baseball, softball, men's and women's basketball and volleyball for the Owls’ athletic department. One of his recent broadcasting highlights in college was his serving as the lead broadcaster of the Little East Conference (LEC) Softball Tournament this past spring.
Also at Keene State, Miezejeski serves as a co-host of a sports talk radio show on the college’s student radio station, WKNH.
Miezejeski has been no stranger to the Schooners organization; this summer marks his third with the franchise but his first as Mystic’s full-time broadcaster. He is making his first-ever appearance as a broadcaster in the NECBL All-Star Game. Upon graduating from Keene State next year, Miezejeski aspires to become a sports broadcaster for any major sports team or company.

The New England Collegiate Baseball League is a wooden bat college summer league that fields teams in all six New England states.
