The NECBL hopes that everyone had a tremendous holiday season.  But while you were stuffing your turkey, finishing your shopping or singing “Auld Lang Syne”, a lot of baseball transactions were going on.  Here is a recap of a busy off-season involving NECBL alumni.

Major League Signings:
The Cleveland Indians signed free agent CF Rajai Davis (2001 Middletown) from Detroit.

The Colorado Rockies signed free agent RHP Jason Motte (2002 Sanford) from the Chicago Cubs.

The Seattle Mariners signed free agent C Chris Iannetta (2003 Newport) from the Los Angeles Angels.

Trades:
The Chicago White Sox traded 2B Micah Johnson (2010 Vermont) to the Dodgers as part of the three-team Todd Frazier trade.

The Philadelphia Phillies received RHP Mark Appel (2010 Newport) from Houston as part of the Ken Giles trade.
 
The Philadelphia Phillies traded RHP Dan Otero (2005 Newport) to the Cleveland Indians for cash.

The Milwaukee Brewers traded 1B Jason Rogers (2010 Laconia) to the Pittsburgh Pirates for CF Keon Broxton and RHP Trey Supak.

The New York Yankees 3B Eric Jagielo (2011 North Shore) to the Cincinnati Reds as part of the Aroldis Chapman deal.

The Oakland Athletics traded RHP Evan Scribner (2005 North Adams) to the Seattle Mariners for RHP Trey Cochran-Gill.

40-Man Roster Additions:
The Oakland Athletics added infielder Joey Wendle (2010 Sanford) to their 40-man roster

The Boston Red Sox added RHP Pat Light (2010 Newport) to their 40-man roster

The Milwaukee Brewers added RHP Damian Magnifico (2011 Laconia) to their 40-man roster.

Minor League Signings:
The Philadelphia Phillies signed free agent RHP Andrew Bailey (2004 Lowell) from the New York Yankees to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

The Minnesota Twins signed free agent RF Darin Mastroianni (2004-05 Vermont) from the Washington Nationals organization to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

The Arizona Diamondbacks signed RHP Tim Stauffer (2001 Keene) from the New York Mets to a minor league contract

The Baltimore Orioles signed free agent LHP Jeff Beliveau (2006 Newport) from the Tampa Bay Rays to a minor league contract.

The Chicago White Sox signed free agent SS Andy Parrino (2005-06 Manchester) from the Oakland Athletics to a minor league contract.

The Chicago White Sox signed INF Steve Lombardozzi (2008 Holyoke) from the Pittsburgh Pirates to a minor league contract

The Detroit Tigers signed free agent RHP Cory Riordan (2005 Danbury) from the Bridgeport Bluefish to a minor league contract.

The Atlanta Braves signed free agent RHP David Carpenter (2005 Vermont) from the Washington Nationals to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

The Chicago Cubs signed OF Juan Perez (2008 Holyoke) from the San Francisco Giants to a minor league contract

The Baltimore Orioles signed free agent C Shawn McGill (2003 Manchester/2005 Newport) to a minor league contract.

The Philadelphia Phillies signed free agent RHP Frank Herrmann (2004 Pittsfield) from the Pittsburgh Pirate organization to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

The Cleveland Indians signed free agent LHP Joe Thatcher (2001 Danbury) from the Houston Astros to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

The Pittsburgh Pirates signed Guido Knudson (2010 North Adams) from the Detroit Tigers.
