Tonight's Mountaineer
Baseball game is postponed
(Montpelier, VT) – Tonight’s scheduled NECBL baseball game
between the Vermont Mountaineers and the Holyoke Giants at
historic Recreation Field in Montpelier has been cancelled due
to inclement weather. Mountaineer General Manager, Brian
Gallagher said the game will be made up on Sunday, July 29, and
will start at 3pm.
The Mountaineers, presently in third place in the NECBL Northern
Division, will also have tomorrow off before hosting the Lowell
All Americans on Friday, and the Keene Swamp Bats on Saturday.
Both games begin at 6:30pm.
The next day, Sunday, July 22, will see the annual NECBL
All-Star game in North Adams, MA. Mountaineers Manager, John
Russo, will be in charge of the Northern Division team for the
second consecutive year. Seven Mountaineers (the largest
contingent of any Northern Division team) will be joining Russo
in the game. Mountaineer internet broadcaster, Paul Roper will
call the play-by-play nation-wide via the NECBL website.
After the All-Star break, the Mountaineers will be playing seven
consecutive games including two against Northern Division
leader, Holyoke (home and away), two against Lowell (home and
away) and single games against Concord (away), Sanford (home)
and Keene (away).
The Mountaineers regular season will end on Tuesday, July 31
(barring any further postponements), which will be Robin Roberts
Day at Montpelier Recreation Field. The Mountaineers will honor
the Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher who is observing the 60th
Anniversary of his 17-3 season in which he led the Twin City
Trojans to the Northern League Championship.
