LYNN, MA (July 26,
2009) – Nick Pulsonetti (Old Tappan, NJ/Monmouth) and Dustin
Spruill (Northpot, Ala/Chipola) both hit two-run home runs for
the Keene Swamp Bats (26-12) in consecutive innings defeating
the North Shore Navigators, 8-3, at Fraser Field in NECBL (New
England Collegiate Baseball League) interleague action.
With the win, the Swamp Bats have won eight straight games, 11
out of their last 12, and currently sit in first place in the
Western Division standings. With the loss, the Navigators fall
to 19-18 on the season.
Righthander Dan White (Southboro, Mass/UMass-Lowell) earned the
win improving to 3-3 on the season pitching five innings
yielding three runs on five hits and one strikeout.
Adam Conley (Olympia, Wash./Washington St.) picked up the save
over four innings of scoreless relief allowing one, one walk and
five strikeouts.
Keene opened the scoring with five runs in the first inning and
never looked back. The Swamp Bats are now 20-0 when scoring
first against an opponent this summer.
Centerfielder Mark Onorati (Williston Park, NY/Manhatten) led
off the game with a double and advanced to second on a
groundout. Third baseman Ryan Terry (West Longbranch,
NJ/Monmouth) walked and Pulsonetti drove both runners home on a
double off of the left field wall putting the Swamp Bats ahead
2-0.
After a groundout by Jacob Rogers (Clearwater, Fla./Chipola)
that advanced Pulsonetti to third base, second baseman Correy
Figueroa (Tallahassee, Fla./Tampa) roped an RBI single to right
field, his 12th run batted in on the season with two outs.
Spruill followed with his first home run of the season to right
field for a Keene 5-0 lead.
North Shore answered back with one run in the bottom half on an
RBI single by left fielder Tyler Ruehlman.
The Swamp Bats responded with two runs in the second on
Pulsonetti’s sixth homer of the season, a two-run shot to left
field. Keene added one more in the third taking an 8-0 lead on a
sac fly from Jared King (Radford, Va./Virginia) that plated
Figueroa.
In the fourth, the Navigators pushed two runs across on right
fielder Matt Marquis second home run of the season, a two-run
homer, that scored first baseman Kent Graham who lead off the
inning with a double making it an 8-3 contest.
Pulsonetti finished the night going 2-for-4 with four runs
batted in on a double and a homer. Figueroa also chipped in with
a 2-for-4 performance scoring two runs and driving one in.

giving up seven runs (six earned) on six hits, one walk and no
strikeouts.
Reliever Glen Misho kept the Swamp Bats at bay allowing one run
over 6 1/3 innings scattering two hits, no walks and five
strikeouts.
After scoring eight runs over the first three innings, Keene’s
offense went dead silent.

Bats never reached base for the rest of the game.

a perfect 1-2-3 ninth inning.
