Giants First Place Lead up to 2 Games
Keene, NH
(July 20, 2007) The Holyoke Giants (24-15) defeated the
Keene Swamp Bats (22-18) by a score of 10-6. Holyoke?s
scoring was led by homeruns from Kevin Renaud and Mike
Walczuk.
Streaking leadoff hitter Justin Little started the game for
the Giants with a single, second baseman Jake Christman
followed with a single of his own. Little then scored on a
Kody Hightower sac but, Hightower reached on the pitchers
error. Christman and Hightower scored later in the inning
giving Holyoke a 3 run 1st inning.
The Giants went back to work in the 2nd inning when Jack
Cawley leadoff the inning with a walk, then moved to second
on a Matt Riemer, Justin Little blooped a an RBI single to
left field scoring Cawley. After that Ben Paulsen who worked
his way out of a first and second jam with no one out,
relieved Keene starter, Ryan Cole
In the 3rd inning Holyoke waited till there was 2 outs to
score as Kevin Renaud smacked a homerun over the leftfield
fence. Designated hitter Mike Walczuk stepped up outdoing
Renaud with a towering homerun to straightaway centerfield.
Holyoke piled on 2 more in the 4th inning bringing the score
to 8-0. Keene broke through in the bottom of the fifth for 4
runs on 4 hits. Both Matt Den Decker and Mike Freeman
doubled in the inning. In the top of the 7th the Swamp Bats
added brought the score to 8-5 Freeman knocked home a run.
In the top of the 8th the Giants broke through after 5
unanswered Swamp Bat runs. Little starting the inning off
with his 3rd single of the game. Hightower singled him home
2 batters later. Shawn Gilblair capped the Giants scoring
with his second RBI of the game. A Keene homerun in the 8th
finished the games scoring at Holyoke 10 Keene 6

The Giants next game is tomorrow at 3:00pm when they visit
