Defeats Holyoke 3 –2
Manchester, CT:
Local Springfield College prospect and Warwick local Jimmy
Lisowski threw three perfect innings with three strikeouts,
but was not enough as the Manchester Silkworms handed the
Holyoke Giants their first loss of the 2007 season.
The Silkworms scored first in the 2nd inning when Kyle
Higgins doubled in designated hitter, Anthony Russell, Matt
Nandin followed with an RBI single. The Giants were able to
match one of the two runs in the bottom of the 3rd off a
Jack Cawley RBI fielder’s choice.
In the bottom of the 5th Manchester extended their lead to
three to one with a two out RBI by Ryan Lavaranway. However,
in the top of the 7th the Giants cut into the lead when Jack
Cawley hit a hard double to left field to bring home third
basemen Matt Reimer. The Giants threatened again in the 8th,
but Will Musson was able to strand a runner at third base
and Rob Hallberg pitched a perfect 9th to close out the game
for Manchester.
The Holyoke Giants face off in Keene, NH on Monday and the
home opener at Mackenzie Stadium is Tuesday at 7 PM.
