Chris
Edmondson and Matt Adams Join the Dukes for the 2008 Campaign
April 19, 2008) – The Pittsfield Dukes added two phenomenal
players to the lineup as they sign two sluggers, both coming
from exceptional baseball programs.
Matt Adams, a sophomore catcher from Slipper Rock University of
Pennsylvania is getting ready to be the backstop for the Dukes
this summer. So far this year for the Lions the 6’3, 225 pound
catcher has shown he can play exceptional both behind the plate
and at the plate. This year, Matt has a .429 average with four
homeruns and 22 RBI. He has started in all 23 of the games he
has played and has a .993 fielding percentage.
Matt has already gotten attention for professional scouts and
has excellent long ball potential. In 2007 he earned third-team
National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-American
status and received first team all region honors from NCBWA. He
also led the team in batting average and doubles, hitting .421
and stroking 24 doubles for the year.
Moving up north to Syracuse, NY, Chris Edmondson of Le Moyne
University is looking forward to roam the outfield of Wahconah
Park. A native of Johnson City, New York, the 6’0, 200 pound
outfielder has played nothing but great for the Dolphins this
year. The sophomore so far is hitting .340 with eight homeruns
and 37 RBI and also plays fantastic defense.
This year Chris has gone 4 for 5 at the plate twice, once
against Delaware State and more recently vs. Niagra. During
those games he hit a total of 2 homeruns and compiled 7 RBI.
Against St. Peters College on April 12 of this year, Chris went
5 for 8 on the day compiling 9 RBI over the span of the double
header.
Dukes fans should be excited to be able to watch these two
players over the course of the summer, as they will be two major
parts of this years teams success.
